When you first see your transcript, you'll find that speakers are labeled as Speaker A, B, C and so on. Let's learn how to assign speakers so that you can make the most of Versational's insights.
Assign Speakers
You can assign a speaker by clicking their name in any of the three places below.
1) On the timeline
2) On the transcript
3) On the speaker summary
After clicking their name, simply search for the person you would like to assign and select their name.
Teammates will show automatically with their image under the team members section. These are all the Versational users in your organization.
If you have a CRM connected, you will see your contacts listed under your 'Team Members' instead of 'Other Attendees'. You can select from these contacts or add a new one.
To create a person outside your organization, simply type their name and select 'Add New' under 'Other Attendees'.
Once you select a speaker, their name will be updated across the transcript, timeline, analytics and wherever else the speaker's name appears.
Change Speakers
Once a speaker is assigned, you can change it to another speaker as many times as you want by clicking on the speaker and assigning it to someone else. Also, you can edit the speaker's name and the transcript will be updated.
Merge Speakers
In rare cases, the transcript will identify two speakers which are actually the same. Most of the time, the transcript will pick this up as an unknown speaker, denoted as 'Speaker UNK'. This means the transcript believes it to be another speaker, but it is not sure which one.
When this is the case, you can easily merge two speakers into one by assigning the same person for both. This will merge their speech on the timeline and transcript. All analytics will take the merged speaker into account.
Reset Speakers
If you make a mistake when assigning speakers, you can reassign individual speakers as many times as you want. If you want to reset all of your speaker selections, simply click on a speaker's name on the timeline and select the 'Reset speaker assignments' icon.
And that's everything you need to know about how to manage your transcript speakers! Speaker data will aggregate across all of your conversations so you can see a wholistic view of your team members, contacts and more.
